Glen Echo National Park

The Glen Echo National Park in Glen Echo, Maryland, houses two popular ballrooms. The nostalgic Spanish Ballroom and the Bumper Car Pavilion. Both halls offer wooden, sprung dance floors. When considering what to wear to classes and dances, please keep in mind that neither hall is heated or air conditioned, so dress in "layers" for maximum comfort.

FROM I-495 (The Beltway)

If you are arriving BEFORE 7 pm on a week day and coming from I-495: Take either the Clara Barton Pkwy exit (from VA) or the Cabin John Expressway (from MD) east toward Glen Echo. Go one mile and take the Cabin John exit up the ramp and left across the Parkway to the stop sign at MacArthur Blvd. Turn right (east) onto Macarthur Blvd. and cross the one-lane bridge. Glen Echo Park is 1 mile on your right. Turn right onto Oxford Road - MAKE A FULL STOP at the stop sign just a few feet ahead (it's a hefty ticket if you don't) - Go straight for one short block and turn into the parking lot on left. Cross the foot bridge and follow the path, walk between the carousel and the brick bath house to the Spanish Ballroom straight ahead.

If you are arriving AFTER 7 pm on a week day or ANY TIME during the weekends use the map at right, and take either the Clara Barton Pkwy exit (from VA) or the Cabin John Expressway (from MD) east toward Glen Echo. From the left lane, take the Glen Echo exit (which is a U-turn, then immediately take the right fork). This will bring you to a 3-way stop sign at MacArthur Blvd. Turn left and continue west on MacArthur past the traffic circle at Goldsboro Road. Take the next left onto Oxford Road - MAKE A FULL STOP at the stop sign just a few feet ahead (it's a hefty ticket if you don't) - Go straight for one short block and turn into the parking lot on left. In reference to the map: follow the RED arrows to go TO the Park; follow the BLUE arrows to LEAVE the Park.

FROM Downtown DC:

FROM Georgetown in DC:

Travel along M Street WEST. Follow signs for MacArthur Boulevard and travel it WEST until you see signs for Glen Echo Park. Turn LEFT onto Oxford Road - MAKE A FULL STOP at the stop sign just a few feet ahead (it's a hefty ticket if you don't) - Go straight for one short block and turn into the parking lot on left.

Public Transportation to Glen Echo Park

Glen Echo park is served by the Route 29 Ride-On bus, which leaves from both the Friendship Heights and Bethesda Metro stations on the Red line. This bus is available weekdays, Saturday, and Sunday. The bus trip from Friendship Heights or Bethesda to Glen Echo takes approximately fifteen minutes. Bus fare is $1.10 during peak hours, $0.90 off-peak, and only $0.25 with a metrorail transfer. The Glen Echo bus stop is located at the Amoco gas station at the end of Goldsboro Road. The stop is lighted and there is a public phone available. From the bus stop it is a five minute walk along MacArthur Blvd to the upper entrance of the park.

Glen Echo Town Hall

Located at the corner of University and Harvard Avenues, Glen Echo, Maryland. Proceed as if going to Glen Echo Park. From MacArthur Boulevard turn onto Oxford Road, and be SURE to make a FULL stop or you will get a hefty ticket. Park in the lot at Glen Echo National Park. Then, instead of walking up the path into the National Park, proceed three blocks down University Avenue into the little Town of Glen Echo. Turn right onto Harvard and you'll see the Olde Town Hall on your left. Enter from the front, and go up the stairs to the second story where you'll see the dance hall.

From DC:

Take I-495 towards College Park. Take Exit 25 North (Route 1) towards Laurel. Go to the sixth light and turn left onto Rhode Island Avenue. K2 Dance Studio is about 1/4 mile on the left, across from the Post Office in the Sunrise Plaza.

From Baltimore:

Take I-95 south towards DC. Take Exit 29A for Beltsville. Make a right at the second light onto Rhode Island Avenue. K2 Dance Studio is about 1/2 mile on the right, across from the Post Office in the Sunrise Plaza.
