If you’re headed to the capitol city and you’re a runner, you might want to plan your trip around the date of March 26, 2011 since that’s when the Sun Trust National Marathon and Half Marathon will take place. The course is touted as “majestic” in nature since it begins at RFK Stadium and takes runners alongside the National Mall where they will pass the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Monument, in addition to the historic Smithsonian museums and sculpture garden. Runners will then run by the White House as they turn north on 18th Street. As they head north through the Adams Morgan district the course will bring them by both Howard University and Trinity College where they will find some of the most inspiring of the course’s many cheering stations.
