If you’re going to be fortunate enough to be spending the holiday season in the DC area this year you bet there’s going to be a lot of action to get you into the holiday spirit. Here are a few ideas you might want to consider:The National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on December 9th where you can watch BB King, Sara Bareilles and Maroon 5 perform live during the festivities. The action starts at 5:00.The National Hanukkah Menorah Lighting takes place on December 1st at the Ellipse (south end of the White House near Constitution Avenue. Festivities include musical performances and hot latkes and donuts!Russian Winter Festival at Hillwood takes place on December 12th from 1pm to 5pm (4155 Linnean Avenue) where you can celebrate the holidays in Old Russian style. Meet Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden as you enjoy dancing, storytelling, and fun-filled entertainment.Season of Magic holiday concert will be held on Saturday, December 18th at 7:30 pm and Sunday December 19th at 3:00 pm at the DAR Constitution Hall located at 1776 D Street NW. These events typically sell out early so make sure you put it on your list to enjoy a mix of traditional and new holiday favorites that are sure to please audiences both young and old!Kennedy Center Messiah Sing-Along will be held at 8:00 pm on December 23rd at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. This is considered by many to be Washington’s most popular free holiday event and included a 200 voice choir, a professional soloist, the Kennedy Center House Orchestra and you all to join in a sing-along to Handle’s glorious Messiah.
