As the capital city, Washington D.C. has a certain responsibility to set an example for the rest of the nation. One of the most discussed issues of our time is the environment and how we can live more sustainable and environmentally friendly lives. This October 23rd and 24th, Washington D.C. will host the Sixth Annual Green Festival. For two days, at the Washington Convention Center, hundreds of speakers and visitors will be present to talk about ways to live greener. Workshops educating festival goers on how to live more eco-friendly and organic food and beer will likely attract large crowds from the area. Washington D.C. is a fast-paced city with so much to do you’ll need a good system for traveling around so you can fit everything into your day. Fortunately, the mass transit system in this city is one of the best in the country.The Metrorail system includes five different color coded lines that can be ridden using a farecard. Farecards can be purchased in the individual stations or online for certain amounts. Another option to consider is the SmarTrip card. Unlike, the farecard, the SmarTrip card is permanent and rechargeable. These cars cost 5 and can also be used on the bus line and for parking at Metrorail stations. Amongst the long list of attributes for this city, Washington D.C. is known for its commitment to the arts, with a handful of nationally acclaimed theatres and a consistent repertoire of outstanding performances. While you’re visiting the capital spend a night taking in all the big stage has to offer.The National Theatre is one of America’s oldest theaters, hosting Broadway plays and American premieres. Washington D.C. fulfills its duty well as the United States’ capital with an endless number of monuments, historical sites and museums, commemorating the past of this country.
